I am a final year student of economics in jimma university& i found this page when i am searching for information for the final year senior essay under the topic “the impact of monetary policy on inflation in ethiopia”.The increase in inflation is knocking at the door of each and every citizen and affecting the country as a whole. We can no longer afford to ignore it. Hence, all of us must exert concerted efforts to determine its causes and come up with solutions with a view to extricate ourselves from the problem we find ourselves in tha is why i select this topic.

thank you

What a suddening story to read. It is our shame and disgrace. I wonder what our political leaders feel if they have the chance to see such news. This human crisis will continue and even gets worst as long as people like Issayas are in power. I do not think he will give it any attention. Some day this way in unknown deseret from all the people by an Egyptian. I cry my heart out for the misery our people are going through.

Well, the issue of Inflation, especially with regard to fuels is really a burnning and brain storming one which needs intervention of all of us. so, we shan't give our back to such issues rather we should look for some other alternatives to coop up with this general increase in price level. thannks

I feel ashamed of the two so called Ethiopians act. They were as most majority are thinking of themselves and put the Airline in a security risk. I wonder if their dream of getting to the US at the cost of our national image is worth for someone who call himself an Ethiopian. For now they will suffer quite some time before their dream comes true. As almost every one wishes to flee from the country, I feel that there is a curse upon our people. There are numerious Ethiopians who pay 80 to 90 thousand birr to get a visa for one of the European countries and become a simple refugee. with such amount of money, I think some one could have started doing some investment at home instead of the maltreatment awaiting him in Europe. Isolation and to be kept in a container home in a remote village where rarely gets means of transportation is a daily life as a refugee. America could be worst! Shame on you two guys !

You know what? At least this party can raise its voice against injustice! yes it is clear the petrol is imported with hard currency. Even the derg regime whom we condemen in all sort of things has never tried to raise price of petrol more than the public can afford. Now only the minor elites of the time and those mischevios millionares will enjoy filling their de luxe 4x4 and have fun in every corner of the city. Oh God your mercy for those with stagnant income who labour daily to drive their small car to work and back! Those government employees who must drop their children to school, then one of the family member, and go to work every day with meager income. I am not sure if UEDP will be herd but at least they sit infront of them and say what has to be said.

I do agree with you all and the fact that Dr Birhanu mentioned 'to sit and think' has nothing wrong with it. It shouldn't be a big deal too. We don't know what is really going with in the party and I know that he is the man for his principle. But I guess he found himself in the middle of somewhere he didn't intend to be. And he might also take a lesson from his jail experience that how far the people struggle for their democracy. I guess it is good to take his time and concider everything before any move. I wish he did it before the union though not too late.

Dear Kidest, just to remind you politics is not a child play. In a country like ours a principled person like Dr Berhanu must not be pushed to confront the might of the present government. The so called party officials most of them begninng with Mr Hailu, their main vision is to think of themselves first. Rarely we find a person like Dr Berhanu who is selfless and was a vision of Mechachal and a democratic struggle. Starting from you, if I may, all of us need to see change, but not prepared to make change. Like you and me if you look at his soul he is just an individual. The leader can succeed only with a determined followers. There is plenty of example I could have mentioned about leaders who failed due to lack of people who can stand with them. I feel sad when we loose a person like him having the potential for a good intent a beautiful dream about his motherland, but without followers except "talkers". Sometimes it is wise simply to wait and see. Being emotional will not take us anywhere except destruction. You are going to face a government who has been equiped with all kind of war machines and an army. Most of us can fly away with a simple shot of a pistol faster than a fighter jet. Some of us have a self centered dream instead of the whole nation.
