When Hawlett Mohammed, 27, arrived home from her job at a nearby Starbucks, her husband would make a habit of checking her cell phone and asking about her whereabouts. Mesfin Hussin, a 35-year-old taxi dispatcher at Washington National Airport, had a history of threatening violence — as in the time in 2006 when he pulled a gun on her in a jealous rage in Ethiopia after he suspected she had been cheating on him.
