Ethiopian premier to visit Egypt for first time since the revolution
Zenawi will meet with the head of the ruling military council Hussein Tantawi, Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr, as well as several businessmen and political analysts concerned with Ethiopian-Egyptian relations.
The Nile Basin negotiations and the situation in Sudan, Libya and Somalia will be the main focus of the talks. Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr said he expects that these negotiations will turn a new page in Egypt’s relations with Ethiopia.
Amr visited Adis Ababa last week as a response to the invitation sent out by the African Union to discuss the situation in Libya. Sharaf also visited the city on 13 May. In both visits, the Egyptian ministers say they have discussed the developments in Egyptian-Ethiopian relations and the prospects of forming a tripartite committee between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to assess the impact of the Nahda Dam.
