More than 100 people killed in southwestern Somalia battle

The deadly battle which has lasted three and half hours flared up around 5:30 a.m. local time after the Islamic insurgents of Al-shabab have attacked on military bases belonging to TFG andeithopian forces on the outskirts of Yurkud village,a small area located between the towns of Bardale and Luq where is under the control of the allied forces.

Residents told Shabelle Media that 100 people on both sides were killed during the combat which was the fiercest one to happen in southwestern Somalia since TFG and regional forces began last year battling against Al-shabab militants linked with Al-Qaeda.

Witnesses say the fighting intensified after the militants managed briefly to take over the area from the allied forces from Somalia and Ethiopia.

Neither Somali government officials nor Al-shabab militants has said any word about the deadly fighting killed 100 people.
