Drone Strike Kills Over 120 Innocent Civilians in East Gojjam Zone, Enarj and Enawga Districts

Ethiofact – More than 120 innocent civilians were killed in a drone strike Yesterday in the East Gojjam Zone, specifically in the Enarj and Enawga districts. The victims were residents of Gedeb town and the surrounding areas.

At the time of the attack, many of them were engaged in preparations for the upcoming Easter holiday. Some were working together to carry firewood as part of a community effort. These civilians, engaged in peaceful holiday preparations, were deliberately and collectively targeted in a brutal drone assault.

“Our organization, Amhara Fano Command in Gojjam, expresses deep sorrow and solidarity with our people in the face of this horrific drone massacre.
We urge all members and leaders to stand firm and vigilant alongside our people. If necessary, we must be ready to make the ultimate sacrifice to resist oppression and protect our people.
To All Amhara People:
The massacre that occurred today, on April 17, 2025, in Gedeb town of Enarj and Enawga districts, clearly shows that the Amhara people are being collectively targeted.We therefore call on all Amhara to prepare immediately for the next phase of our popular struggle and national resistance. The time has come to respond — to stand up, to organize, and to fight for our freedom by any means necessary.
Let us honor the memory of our massacred brothers and sisters by ensuring that their sacrifice was not in vain.

May their souls rest in eternal peace. We extend our deepest condolences to the grieving families.”
